THEME ACTIVITIES / DISPLAY IDEAS
Use 'Motivator
' to create posters of your student champions reading. Add the posters weekly to build a wall of champions. You can also create posters of champion teachers reading. Great modelling!
---------------------------------------------------
Use the Olympics as a link to the theme, encouraging students to 'read' up on a champion in a particular sport. Students could use 'Voki' to 'talk' about their chosen champion.
---------------------------------------------------
Students could find out about 'unsung' champions in their community via the local newspaper.
---------------------------------------------------
What exactly makes a champion? This could provide a great discussion or even debate - 'Champions are born, not made.'
---------------------------------------------------
TL Karen Collins has a great Olympic Reading Challenge. You can download the various associated record sheets below.
---------------------------------------------------
Use this newspaper template to create great articles about your school reading champions
