Create a favourite quotation wall where contributions from readers' favourite books may be written ----------------------------------------------------------- Create a 'graffiti' wall where students can list not only the title of thebook they are currently reading, but write a sentence about it. Use large sheets of paper or cardboard. ----------------------------------------------------------- Encourage staff to contribute to the twitter reading discussion on Tuesday Jan 31, using the hashtag #nyr2012. ----------------------------------------------------------- Ideas from the State Library of Victoria 'Read Alert' ----------------------------------------------------------- Encourage your students to read on the theme on each of the petals on the NYR flower logo: January: The Amazing Read February:Laugh March:Think April:Feel May: Escape June:Dream July:Discover August:Question Sept:Grow Oct: Explore Nov: Cry Dec: Love2Read ----------------------------------------------------------- The Australian Women Writers Reading Challenge (for staff and senior HS students) ----------------------------------------------------------- Inspired by the book 'The Reading Promise' by Alice Ozma, encourage your schol community to read aloud to their children for at least 10 minutes per day for 2012. ----------------------------------------------------------- Challenge your students to borrow 2012 books during the term/semester. ----------------------------------------------------------- Use Voki to create avatars to complete the statement: 'I like to read because....' ----------------------------------------------------------- Read in as many different places in the school as possible.
